Had a great weekend at the reverse direction Knockhill meeting. It was my first time out on my GP125 and I was racing in the Scottish Lightweight class against bikes up to 650cc.
Saturday’s warm up was damp but went well. Next up was qualifying, the track had dried up and I managed to qualify in fifth position with a lap time of 58.6.
I got a bad start in race one (as it was my first race start on that bike) but I made it back up to seventh place by the first corner and worked my way up to fifth, unfortunately I crashed out battling for fourth place. Then due to problems with the bike following the crash, I wasn’t able to start race two.
Sunday was a much better day for me, although I had to start from the back of the grid for race one I managed to battle my way up and finished the race in sixth position! In race two I started from my original qualifying position and finished that race fifth overall! Race three was brilliant, I got the best start I’d had all weekend and had a really great battle and finished with a podium position of third overall with my best lap time of the weekend 56.6.
I really enjoyed the weekend. Two of the Sunday races will be shown on MotorsTV in a couple of weeks, when I know the date I will let you know.
