Just back from rounds three and four at Donington Park.

On Saturday morning I had a 15 minute practise session then into qualifying. Qualifying didn’t go as we planned and I ended up qualifying in seventh position due to the bike not revving out.

Dad made a few changes to the bike and in race one I got a good start and managed to battle my way up into second position. Although the bike was slightly better we still had power issues and I had to battle really hard, dropping back to fourth and climbing back up again to finally take second place!  Due to incidents in other classes I only had one race on Saturday.

The good news was that my Dad found the problem when he stripped the bike down on Saturday night and found that the cylinder plating had detached from the cylinder which had caused the lack of power. My Dad replaced the complete top end with one he managed to borrow and rebuilt the bike ready for Sunday.

In the first race on Sunday the bike was running much better but we still had to find some speed. Again I battled hard and finished the race in second place!

I knew I had to improve on my lap times as well if I wanted to catch the winner of races one and two.

We had new grid positions for the next two races based on our fastest lap times called Mega Laps and I qualified in second.

The next race was red flagged after lap two. In the restart I took the lead and held it for the whole race giving me my first race win of the weekend!

The last race was very close, I managed to take the lead from the start and pushed as hard as I could throughout and amazingly I smashed the previous year’s lap record by 1.3 seconds on the last lap. Unfortunately for me the guy right behind me took the lap record by two tenths of a second, but I won the race!

Now I have increased my lead in the championship to 30 points. Two of my Sunday races will be shown on MotorsTV (Sky 447, Virgin 545, Freeview 240HD) on Thursday 24th of April at 9:30pm.
